Acting

Whatever your passion for theatre, you can learn how to refine your skills on our Acting specialist pathway. Not only will you get plenty of opportunities to perform, you will also develop skills in devising, study contemporary texts and have the opportunity to develop your directing skills. You will get a well rounded experience of what you can expect from working in theatre professionally.

 

A wide variety of dramatic genres including:

 

  • Classical and Contemporary Theatre

  • Devising

  • Theatre for Children

  • Audition technique

  • Site- Specific Theatre

  • Works from pioneers of the theatre industry

  • TV and Film

Acting specialists at The SPACE learn how to apply these drama techniques and principles through practical workshops, incorporating approaches of important and contemporary drama practitioners in creating material that often leads to public performance.

Acting skills will be enhanced by the other performance skills that are developed on the course, including movement and dance, physical theatre and singing.

SPACE company members have previously had the opportunity to work with a variety of Professional Companies and Practitioners such as; Cube Essential Theatre, Idle Motion Theatre Company, Stage Combat Expert from American Theatre School, Arts Ed, London, Handspring Puppetry Company and Bristol Old Vic

 

Some of our graduates, choosing to pursue a career in theatre have gone onto study at a variety of prestigious drama schools and universities including Italia Conti Academy of Theatre Arts, East 15 Acting School, Arts Ed, Guildford School of Acting, Guildhall School of Music and Drama, Trinity LABAN, Liverpool Institute for Performing Arts, University of Exeter, Goldsmiths, Bath Spa University, University of the West of England, and Falmouth University.
