ALICE in Wasteland (1).png

Year 2 Verbatim - Alice in Wasteland
Monday, 20th & Tuesday, 21st October 2025
at The SPACE 7:00 pm

This is a devised performance blending physical theatre, lip-synced audio, verbatim, and a powerful soundscape of climate voices.  This Year 2 production reimagines Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland as a descent into a world in climate crisis.

Follow Alice down the rabbit hole into a world transformed by ecological upheaval, where familiar characters embody the forces shaping our future: choking air pollution, raging forest fires, melting ice, fossil fuels, and the heated debates that rage around them.

“It’s no use going back to yesterday, because I was a different person then.”

Through bold, non-naturalistic storytelling, inspired by professional companies such as Gecko, Jasmin Vardimon and Wise Children, the performance confronts the damage inflicted on our planet - while carrying a vital message of resilience, action, and hope.

Year 1 Ignition
Tues 11th/Wed 12th/Thurs 13th
November 2025
at The SPACE 7:00 pm

Ignition 2025 is a performance event to launch The SPACE Year 1 Company.

All of the performance work for this event are contemporary retellings of myths from Ancient Greece.

The first act will comprise two short theatre performances based on Homer's Odyssey (as retold by Splendid Theatre Company) and the story of Oedipus told through dance (and inspired by Hofesh Shechter's reimagining).

The second act uses a musical theatre style to tell the stories of Orpheus and the underworld, Hercules, Icarus and Medusa. It uses songs from contemporary musicals including Hadestown, Hercules, Pippin, Frozen, We Will Rock You and Six.
